Short description of the contract or purchase(s)
A 120kV Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) for diagnostic studies of cellular ultra structure at high resolution is required by the Electron Microscopy Unit at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
This microscope is required to provide ultra structural information from a wide range of diagnostic samples; this ultra structural information will significantly inform the diagnostic pathway and influence patient care. The microscope should be suitable for assessment and evaluation of the ultra structure of many different diagnostic sample types and should allow electron tomography at tilts of -70 to +70 degrees on araldite embedded ultra thin sections. The microscope should include a CCD camera capable of taking publication quality images with patient identification data embedded into each image. In addition, the equipment supplied must be suitable for a high through put, multi-user environment with a wide range of user experience and therefore must be easy to use.
