Abstract
As part of the SEACAMS2 research project (working with the marine renewable sector in Wales UK), we are undertaking research into the ecology of MRE (Marine Renewable Energy) development sites. These MRE sites are often areas of prevailing wave exposure, high tidal current velocities and turbulence, and range from 30 – 100 m in depth. We are seeking to purchase an upward looking echosounder that can be deployed on the seabed in these locations and provide data that will allow 1) species / faunal group identification and 2) establish their depth distribution over periods of two weeks and more. We have experienced ocean science instrument technical staff and a 35 m research vessel to facilitate the use and deployment of an upward looking echosounder.
