Section IV: Procedure
IV.1) Description
IV.1.1) Type of procedure
Award of a contract without prior publication of a call for competition
Justification for selected award procedure:
The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason: absence of competition for technical reasons
Explanation
The below technical specification required is unique to one system:
— dual synchronized tunable outputs,
— output power > 1W over the tuning range compensates for loses in the complex optical path within microscope-based applications,
— low relative intensity noise (RIN) to allow shot noise detection of stimulated Raman scattering,
— the short pulses (120 fs) enable detection schemes such as spectral focusing that require broadband excitation pulses,
— integrated dispersion compensation that ensures the highest peak powers are delivered for microscope-based imaging applications,
— integrated spectral focusing unit that applies a linear chirp to the excitation pulse for Spectral Focusing Coherent anti-Stokes Raman Scattering (SF-CARS) and Stimulated Raman Scattering (SF-SRS) imaging and spectroscopy.
Newport Spectra Physics is currently the only supplier to offer this highly specialised instrument designed specifically to perform spectral focusing, non-linear optical microscopy.
