Abstract

The hospital is compliant with HMPPS category B prison standards, having perimeter intrusion detection systems, supported by CCTV. General surveillance cameras as well as internal ward and garden CCTV are broadly used. The hospital perimeter initially included both perimeters for the old and new hospitals, however, these were joined together prior to the patient move, to enable further development works to take place securely before the old perimeter has been decommissioned. The secure perimeter covered an approximate circumference of 1.4 km (91 zones) and has reduced to approximately 1.1 km when the old hospital perimeter has been decommissioned. The scale of the project has incorporated all systems in the new hospital and the perimeter Detection and CCTV in the old site. Given the high security nature of the Trusts, together with the complexity of new and legacy systems being maintained, the Trusts adopted the competitive dialogue procedure to define the designated solution(s) that has best suited and met the trusts short, medium and long term needs and requirements.
