Abstract

Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) invites you to submit a Tender for the Enabling Works – Grand Pavilion Porthcawl. BCBC intends appointing a Lead Contractor to undertake and assume full responsibility for the delivery of the Contract, in close liaison with the Authority’s Appointed Person(s). Brief Description: To undertake the internal soft strip out of the Grand Pavilion Porthcawl in advance of a main contract being let for the redevelopment of the Grand Pavilion in the summer 2024. The aim of the soft strip is to remove all internal walls, floors, ceilings, non-structural internal walls, internal doors, strip out of mechanical and electrical services as far as possible, and removal of identified asbestos. There will be protection of the retained historic structure and some retained finishes such as the auditorium floor, and fittings such as the Art Deco door handles. In addition, there will be a requirement to reinstate a power source for the provision of temporary security and fire alarm services. There may be some opening up works to structure to enable the design team to understand the “hidden” core of the building and inform the design for the redevelopment. The works are expected to take around 8-10 weeks but welcome the contractor to propose a suitable programme. Due to the listed status of the building, contractors that have a keen sense of preserving heritage and the sensitivities of working in an historic environment, would be welcomed. The project is fully funded, and the intention is to let this contract in May with a start on site targeted for late May Form of Contract, JCT Intermediate - 2016 Edition. Price Cap: £450,000. If any Bidder exceeds the price cap then they will be immediately disqualified. Constructionline: Principal Contractors are to be “Registered” and “Verified” on the Constructionline Database. See Tender Documents.
