Abstract

The objective of the Circular Economy project is to use existing infrastructure, resources, knowhow, and networks to develop the Circular Economy on Ynys Môn and Gwynedd. Menter Môn have worked with Ynys Môn and Gwynedd CC to establish a network of Ffiws spaces across both Counties since 2020. The Ffiws spaces are in our communities and can be used as hubs to repair, reuse and grow. With support through the Circular Economy fund we can develop a programme of interventions that can increase awareness, develop skills, and embed a culture of reducing waste at every opportunity. A makerspace is a collaborative workspace for making, learning, exploring, and sharing that uses high tech to no tech tools. The type of technology available in a maker space includes 3D printers, laser cutters and 3D scanners.There are currently 11 makers spaces in Gwynedd and 1 on Anglesey. To deliver the project we wish to appoint up to 6 individuals to:- a. Provide ongoing technical support across Anglesey and Gwynedd Support is needed to ensure good working order of the equipment and relevant health and safety checks to ensure the safety of users. b. Work with Menter Mon, groups and individuals to develop basic skills and increase awareness of the technology available at the Ffiws locations. The type of activities will include (but not limited to) the following: • Induction sessions for individuals to use the equipment themselves. • Train the trainer events Help develop and deliver workshops focusing on the repair and reuse of everyday items to reduce household waste. The type of activities will include (but not limited to) the following: • Introductory workshops for craftworkers • Beginner courses for bike maintenance and repairs • Courses on household electrical repairs • Basic phone fixing courses and laptop repairs • Workshops on upcycling and mending furniture • Repair and renew clothing • Introductory workshops for craftworkers • Support for Ffiws Makers Club (weekday, evening and weekends) • Collaboration events with other projects e.g. Hwb Menter • Maker Days to encourage the public to engage with Ffiws locations
