Abstract

Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) is an umbrella term to describe a family-led process that allows a family network to come together and make a plan in response to concerns about a child’s safety and wellbeing. FGDM meetings help to ensure a family network is engaged and empowered throughout the decision-making process of a children’s social care journey, and can include identifying practical support for parents, while prioritising the wellbeing of the child.

Children’s Social Care is one of the Secretary of State’s priorities and the FGDM policy links in with the Opportunity Mission. Through this procurement, we want to deliver on the government’s commitment to keep families together and children safe, as outlined in Keeping children safe, helping families thrive , published in November 2024.

The Department is seeking to procure a package of best practice guidance and resources, which draw on research and case studies, for local authorities and practitioners of FGDM meetings to enable them to conduct these meetings safely and effectively. This will include guidance on safeguarding from harms and how to deliver effective FGDM meetings

Further information and the ITT for the procurement opportunity can be found on the Department's e-sourcing portal system: https://education.app.jaggaer.com/web/login.html

Only bids submitted on this system in accordance with the terms in the ITT will be accepted. Bids submitted in any other way will not be accepted.
