Abstract

This is a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) intention to award a contract notice under the competitive procedure. The awarding of this contract is subject to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. For the avoidance of doubt, the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 do not apply to this award.

Buckinghamshire Council seeks tenders from suitably experienced organisations that can develop and manage a physical activity pathway for inactive older adults with long-term conditions.

Interested organisations must have experience of supporting adults with long-term conditions to increase their physical activity levels.

The pathway project will support system change and collaborative action, to prevent long-term health conditions and enable supportive self-management for people with existing long-term conditions, as well as reducing the risk of recurrent events. The pathway will be targeted at residents of the Opportunity Bucks wards of Buckinghamshire, it will maximise community assets and ensure that people get the right support to become active and improve their health (both physical and mental) and wellbeing.

Physical Activity Specialists that work on the project are required to be, as a minimum, experienced Level 3 Exercise on Referral qualified (minimum 1 year supporting adults with long-term conditions and trained in behaviour change using the COM-B model).

The successful provider will be required to work alongside an independent evaluation team, commissioned specifically to look at the project processes and outcomes.

This is a new service delivered by a new provider. The contract will commence on 6th March to allow for a mobilisation period and the service delivery will commence on 1st April 2025 and end on 31st March 2028. The expected lifetime contract value is £280,654.45.
