Description of the contract
To deliver an action from the Timber Industrial Strategy, Making Wood Work for Wales;
Review existing mechanisms of support for post-16 training, including Apprenticeships, support needed for the development of off-site timber training, post-16 entry to forestry and the promotion of forestry to those with transferrable experience and skills.
o Map existing provision
o Assess alignment with current and future industry needs
o Evaluate accessibility, effectiveness, and learner outcomes.
o Prepare and issue a questionnaire and deliver focus group discussions to appraise the FFF funded project.
o Identify barriers to participation
o Identify progression routes and barriers for learners including accessibility.
o Review of the barriers faced by employers within the forestry sector when recruiting and retaining staff.
o Benchmark Welsh provision against other UK nations to include vocational and apprenticeship models where useful.
o Make prioritised, actionable recommendations for policy-makers, providers and employers
