Ring Ouzel Baseline Survey Nant Ffrancon

Description of the goods or services required

The Ring Ouzel is red-listed on the British and Welsh Birds of Conservation Concern due to long term declines in breeding population and range. This species is of particular interest to the National Trust and our partners in Nant Ffrancon as an indicator species of a mosaic of habitats in good condition. We require a baseline survey of Ring Ouzel to be undertaken in the breeding season of 2026. This contract will start in April 2026, and the final report will be required by end of September 2026.

Total quantity or scope of tender

This contract will include a survey of all tetrads within Nant Ffrancon to estimate the breeding population, along with habitat suitability. In addition, a focussed study of several territories within the project area is required to increase our understanding of Ring Ouzel habitat-use within breeding territories. 3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Previous experience in ecological monitoring and bird surveying in a challenging upland landscape.

Previous experience of Ring Ouzel breeding surveys

A good knowledge of the Nant Ffrancon landscape and the ecological significance of this area.

Availability to complete the baseline survey within the 2026 breeding season.
