Abstract

Wakefield Council is seeking to procure a dynamic proactive all age district wide drugs and alcohol prevention, treatment and recovery service.

The service will deliver all aspects of a drug and alcohol service, covering prevention, treatment and recovery.

The service will give particular focus to women, young people, and families, BAME, LGBTQ, drug and/alcohol misuse in relation to domestic abuse, mental health, housing, and an aging drug and/or alcohol population that have been in long-term drug and/or alcohol treatment.

The service will explore the use and treatment of Novel Psychoactive Substances (NPS), Image and Performance Enhancing Drug’s (IPED’s) and misuse and dependency on prescribed and over the counter medicines. Currently there is limited population-level information in these areas for Wakefield.

The contract will commence on 1.4.2020 for a period of 5 years. The Council may extend the contract for period of up to 5 years, such period/multiple of periods at the discretion of the Council, meaning the final possible expiry date is 31.3.2030.
