The Welsh Government are seeking proposals to undertake a qualitative evaluation of the general dental services reform programme in Wales and the extent to which it meets the stated objectives from the perspectives of dentists, the wider dental team, Health Boards, patients and the policy objectives of the Welsh Government. In 2017 the Welsh Government published Taking Oral Health Improvement and Dental Services Forward in Wales which outlined the key priorities in dentistry in Wales with dental contract reform identified as a priority. The Welsh Government has since published the strategic document The Oral Health and Dental Services’ Response to A Healthier Wales which provides national policy direction for dentistry in Wales.
Learning is being used from previous dental pilot experience in Wales. The programme now involves key dental stakeholders in the development, collection and reporting of oral health risks, needs and outcomes of individual patients.
Bidders for this contract should have experience of qualitative research and an understanding of the health and social services environment including primary care dentistry in Wales.
