II.2.4) Description of the procurement
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is looking to undertake an evaluation exercise for a reliable and user friendly technical solution which enables the the collection and realtime streaming of images from body / helmet worn devices fitted to Incident Commanders at operational incidents. The outcomes of this technical evaluation will determine the organisations future strategy whether to proceed with full implementation of this new capability across its service area. The service has developed and are in the process of implementating a ‘multi-network’ 4G local area WIFI network in partnership with Excelerate Technology Ltd. This instantly deployable network is able to connect to any available 4G network or have the ability to mesh with other similar units attending the incident, creating a self contained encrypted LAN which UnBlurs IRIS Incident Management platform operates via.
The period of the contract will be initially for 3 years with the option to extend for an additional 3 years.
The solution will be required to be body / helmet mounted, simplistic in its operation and ruggedized to enable it to operate effectively in potentially hostile environments, although at this stage the devices are intended to be operating only in the external environment.
