Abstract

Upgrade for Immersive Environment Testing which was previously procured. Additional funding has been received to upgrade the system. The upgrade will comprise: - sound treatment of the existing enclosure and door, to enable an immersive sound experience (ambisonics), considered in many research fields as essential to full, multisensory immersion. This will significantly increase the attractiveness of the research tool, by making the immersive experience significantly more real. - structure to support ultra-short-throw projectors, to increase the capacity (number of people) of the immersive cylinder without compromising the visual projection quality. The current projection configuration restricts users to a relatively small, central area beyond which people’s shadows are cast on the projection area. This modification is key to significantly broadening the range of research projects the immersion cylinder enables.
