Abstract

Rapid identification of asymptomatic close contacts remains a key component to containing outbreaks. Early detection of cases reduces onward transmission of COVID-19. With the removal of the requirement of self-isolation for close contacts, identifying asymptomatic contacts through proactive PCR swabbing is a high priority. A rapid, flexible service to provide PCR testing or LFD testing (in emergency response only) for COVID-19 outbreaks remains an essential component of Hertfordshire County Council’s response and testing strategy. This service will provide a service for community settings and Independent Mental Healthcare providers and includes, but is not limited to:• High risk workplaces e.g., factories, processing plants, offices • Educational settings, including universities, colleges and in exceptional circumstances, special schools• Retirement homes• Children’s residential homes • Adult residential homes• Adult nursing homes• Refuges and homeless shelters• Prisons (The Mount Prison,) covering staff only, not prisoners • Communities with enduring transmission
