Abstract

NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board are seeking a provider who will provide safe and effective secure transport for individuals with mental health needs (under various sections of the Mental Health Act 1983), and a support and observation (sitting) staff service for patients during detention or stay in a Place of Safety or acute hospital emergency department (ED) under this legal framework - namely Section 136 of the Mental Health Act. This service will not include transport of individuals with mental health needs where secure transport is not required as this is provided by existing patient transport service provisions.

The service will operate in an area of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB) which covers the places of North and Mid Hampshire, South West Hampshire, South East Hampshire, Southampton, Portsmouth and Isle of Wight. The population for the ICB is 1.9 million. The service will operate in and out of Hampshire.

The ICB are seeking to award a contract for 3 years from 1st February 2025 to 21st January 2028, with the option to extend for a further 2 years to 31st January 2030.
