Abstract

The scheme will deliver a single 225-250 kW wind turbine and associated infrastructure on Land West of Little Lansenwith, Tretheague, Stithians, Cornwall providing power by a private cable to Stithians Water Treatment Works nearby.

It is expected that the turbine will produce around 700 000 - 800 000 kWh per annum accounting for approximately 40 % of the site's energy usage. This scheme will contribute towards SWW's aim to have 20 % of their energy coming from renewable energy sources by 2020.

Specification

A 3- bladed wind turbine between 225-250 kW with a total height of 58 m or less and a rotor diameter of 35 m or less.

a) Annual Energy Production (AEP) of 700 000 or greater with an annual average wind speed on site of 7.62 m/s;

b) The site is not eligible for export so all power must be used on site (i.e. at the WTW).

These dimensions will enable the turbine to fit within our planning constraints. Due to ecological constraints on site any pre-commencement works would need to be completed in February, subject to gaining planning permission and installation of the wind turbine would be expected to follow these works.
