Abstract

1) Service required

1.1) The Trust requires continuous service. 24 hours per day. 365 days per year

The contractor will ensure that there are adequate contingency plans in place to cover planned and unplanned absences.

Contract security to maintain and update assignment instructions (A.I.s)

1.2) The main tasks to be undertaken as part of this contract are detailed below.

The list of tasks is not exhaustive and the contractor will be expected to undertake any reasonable security requests on an ad-hoc basis to ensure that the security officers on site will provide a reactive service for any incidents or problems that may arise within Kettering General Hospital:

1.2)(i) To provide excellent customer service for all patients, staff and visitors that may require assistance at Kettering General Hospital.

1.2)(ii) To provide a reactive service for any incidents or problems that may arise within Kettering General Hospital.

1.2)(iii) To provide a reactive, proactive and responsible response team to deal with any pager activations, alarm activations and deal with in a professional basis and investigate these fully.

1.2)(iv) To provide emergency assistance in times that are needed — fire, explosion, gas leaks, biohazard incidents, bomb threats or any other major incident that the trust instructs security to help with.

1.2)(v) To provide internal and external visible patrolling of the site to include external patrols, external buildings, corridors and wards throughout the duration of the contract. All internal and external patrols will be recorded.

1.2)(vi) To protect property against theft or damage, to deal with any aspect of trespass and prevent any unlawful entry to any building or area with in the trust.

1.2)(vii) To monitor all fire exits and fire equipment on trust property for defect/ obstruction that will affect the running or use. Any incidents will be escalated to the estates office.

1.2)(viii) Security will liaise with and support the bedside management for vulnerable patients (Bed watch) officers when required and provide short term security in the period between the issue being reported and a Bed watch officer arriving at the location required.

1.2)(ix) To participate in all areas of a missing patient — search, escalation, return.

1.2)(x) To provide to the estates office and the trust management team any information that they believe may impact the good running of Kettering General Hospital — Fire, flood, potential for injury, loss or damage.

1.2)(xi) To monitor live CCTV images from the security office.

1.2)(xii) Security officers will enforce all Trust policies and procedures. This will include the No Smoking Policy.

1.2)(xiii) To act upon any other ad-hoc requests that the Trust require from the service provider.

2) Reporting of Incidents and Maintaining a Daily Log Book

2.1) The trust also requires all Security Officers:

2.1)(i) To have an understanding of incidents that relate to suspicious packages, phone calls or anything of a nature that is a threat to the running of Kettering General Hospital. This includes incident management and preservation of any areas that may be deemed necessary.

2.1)(ii) All reportable incidents will be recorded on the daily log report.

2.1)(iii) To monitor visitors, patients and staff for any problems that may arise from their conduct, reasons for visiting the trust, or anything that may impact the good running of the trust.

2.1)(iv) To provide, and update on a daily basis during each shift — a written log. All patrols, issues and incidents will be recorded in the log.

2.1)(v) To provide a service of defect reporting to site management or the Kettering General Hospital Estates Help Desk.

2.1)(vi) Contract Security management will attend a monthly security meeting with the trust’s LSMS.

Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a qualified, competent company to provide manned guarding to the main hospital site. 24 hours per day 365 days per year for a 3 year period 1.4.2019 to 31.3.2022 with a possible further extension of 12 month plus 12 months to a maximum of 5 years.
