Abstract

DAERA requires an assessment of the impact of EFS management interventions targeting breeding waders and seed eating birds as well as the response of a broad spectrum of upland birds to EFS landscape scale habitat management. The contractor will monitor and evaluate bird populations on a sample of EFS agreement lands compared to an equivalent area of counterfactual (land not under EFS agreement). This will allow the effectiveness of specific habitat management measures undertaken by agreement holders to be assessed against perceived outcomes. The delivery of this contract will require expertise in ornithology, terrestrial ecology, species identification and field monitoring techniques, construction and population of databases, geographical information systems, spatial analysis, techniques of statistical analysis and report writing.
