Abstract

BEIS awarded a contract to undertake testing a variable quantity of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with BS EN/IEC 62321 to verify compliance with the following regulations or equivalent (and any amendments to these) as necessary over a potential 24 month period.

• UK Statutory Instrument 2012 No 3032 — implementing Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to the restriction of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

The contract will be for an initial term of 5 months with the option to extend on the same terms for a further 19 months. Therefore the contract value of GBP 800 000 is based upon the full 24 month duration.

The break clause is being implemented to both ensure the contract is delivering the requirement and if funding will be available for the remaining 19 months since funding will be subject to the 2020 Comprehensive Spending Review. It will be subject to BEIS terms and conditions, which will be available within the suite of documents attached.
