Abstract

Overview As part of the Transport for Wales’ (TfW) Core Valley Lines (CVL) Project, Balfour Beatty Rail have been asked to submit a quotation for the project’s Telecoms - Phase A (TAM) works. The works are a requirement to provide Fibre Optic Cable connectivity for Signalling, Telecom and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) circuits. This work will include the installation of 24F, 48F and 432F Cables. Balfour Beatty Rail is seeking to engage the market for proposals which shall include the storage of cable procured by Balfour Beatty Rail and its client, management, redrumming and delivery of the cables, including: > Arrange and management of secure storage area for the cables. > Accepting deliveries of cable drums from the cable supplier at storage location, which shall include the supply of mechanical means to safely offload the drums from delivery wagons. > Visual inspection of cables/drums on arrival reporting any damages or anomalies with the delivery to Balfour Beatty Rail. > Cut and redrum 432F cable to design lengths. Design lengths and redrumming requirements for Phase A works shall be listed within enquiry. Note: design lengths are taken from the latest draft design, lengths may change with future design issues and site surveys. > Redrumming details shall be supplied; redrumming from 8no. x 6km drums of 432f cable to be re-drummed on to 19no. Drums from end of January 2021 > Delivery of redrummed cable, on call-off to TfW’s Depot, Treforest Industrial Estate, South Wales. (Plant for offloading at Treforest Depot will be supplied by TfW.) Programme Phase A – Installation of approx. 44km of 432F Cable. We would require the delivery of the cable from your storage depot to Treforest from begin February 2021. NB: Potential Future Works - Phase B of the works is due to commence in Summer 2021. Balfour Beatty Rail will also be looking to carry out these works for TfW, and would require additional cable storage, cutting & redrumming of fibre cables.
