VII.2.1) Description of the modifications
Since the commencement of this contract in 2018, a number of contract variations took place:
March 2020 - Contract uplift of GBP 1.07m
August 2020 - Contract uplift of GBP 1.07m
September 2020 - Contract uplift of GBP 1.08m
Total current contract value is GBP 12.075m.
VII.2.2) Reasons for modification
Need for additional works, services or supplies by the original contractor/concessionaire
Description of the economic or technical reasons and the inconvenience or duplication of cost preventing a change of contractor:
Due to a number of unanticipated events - some related to COVID-19 - we are seeking agreement to vary the existing contract to allow for an additional GBP 1.07m of expenditure. This expenditure will allow the Department to complete the current phase of the programme and honour our existing commitments to the schools sector, software suppliers and Ministers under the current contract. Once we have completed this phase of the programme - the vast majority of which happens by November 2020 - future packages of work will then put out to tender.
