II.2.4) Description of the procurement
The Nurse Call system is critical to patient care and safety. Patients can request Nurse assistance by using either a hand held control unit or by pressing a call button located on a wall panel near the bed. Ward washroom areas are installed with a pull cord alarm call system.
When system is activated by the user it triggers an alert at the system base unit located in the ward’s Nurse station for action. Audible alarms and lighting may also be activated depending on alarms location, for example a shower room.
The Nurse Call system’s at GGH, IRH, GRI, RAH and QEUH were installed by Static Systems. Basic elements of the software system embedded within the Codemlon Nurse Call system may be accessed by third party maintenance engineers on a limited access level only. This would allow for basic fault finding, change to system tones and system history log.
There are engineering levels embedded in the systems which are only accessible to Static Systems engineers. In the event of a major system breakdown third party service providers would need assistance from Static System service engineers and technical department to compete the relevant works.
As this system is critical to patient care and safety it is imperative the appointed maintenance contractor has an in-depth working knowledge of the system and there is no contractor delay to any system maintenance / fault finding that is required.
Some Nurse Call Systems in place are to be considered legacy equipment (installation over 15 years +) and as such we require Static System expertise, in depth system knowledge and full system software access rights to be appointed as the sole supplier of maintenance of this system
Due to the nature of the system mentioned an ongoing maintenance contract is required to protect the longevity of the system. The contract will run for three years with the option to extend by 12 months + 12 months
