The Care Act 2014 states that Occupational Therapists (OT’s) are well placed to undertake assessment or review of an individual or carer with complex support needs. OT intervention is primarily preventative, and the cost benefits associated with the provision of personalised home adaptations is well evidenced. OT’s are effective at preventing, reducing or delaying the need for care and support based on a holistic picture of the individual or family, taking into consideration informal support networks and an asset-based approach which is complementary to maximising individual and community resilience.
