Abstract

The Service Provider must have expertise in the methodology of supporting survivors of conversion practices and working with LGBTQ+ people who have lived experiences or are survivors of conversion practices. The future service provider will help set up or expand support services for LGBTQ+ survivors of conversion practices in Wales, ideally with a service based in Wales, including potential local service providers or office. This service would develop a robust and responsive pathway, focusing on a person-centred approach for supporting the well-being of survivors, empowering them, and offering a diverse range of engagement options. The service will need to provide: - caseworkers and advocacy services to meet the needs of survivors of conversion practices; - a 1-1 counselling service; - to signpost to existing support programmes, which aim to build trust, promote healthy relationships, increase visibility and/or a connection with LGBTQ+ communities. This service will need to be accessible to survivors through a diverse range of mediums: for instance, online video calls, phone calls, and/or face-to-face appointments. Face-to-face support, office based, or community-based support in Wales will be delivered in the context of a confidential and a safe space for survivors. The Service Provider could also explore options to engage with selected organisations and institutes in Wales to raise awareness of the new service amongst potential users of the service, and those in contact with survivors or victims. Safeguarding: The service would need to demonstrate they have protocols and risk assessments in place to ensure users accessing the service are safeguarded. Data gathering for improving services: The service provider must provide data to Welsh Government to show usage of the service including numbers of individuals supported. In addition, the provider should develop a mechanism for feedback and learning to be used to support on-going improvement of the service. Anticipated budget: Budget to be confirmed, but expected to be around £8,000 per month, and up to £100,000 per year (12 months). The contract term is not yet decided.
