Abstract

The City Council wishes to appoint a design consultant to undertake a leading role in bringing forward a scheme for Preston's new market facility.

The project is seen as a high priority by the Council and is a key catalyst and major regeneration initiative not only for the Markets Quarter but also for the whole of the city centre.

The appointed consultant is required to undertake tasks as described by RIBA Plan of Work Stages 3 — 7 for the refurbishment of the 1875 Market Canopy, provision of a new market facility and creation of event/performance space.
