Abstract

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) will be awarding a contract for the remediation of a debris slide that occurred on a retained, steep, partially wooded slope on Avondale Terrace, Cymmer, Neath Port Talbot. The contract works are designed to manage groundwater and surface water flows to reduce the risk of further flow slides in this area by the construction of a series of cut of drains. In addition, a masonry retaining wall damaged by the debris slide will be repaired. The ultimate objective of the works is to provide sufficient assurance of the improved stability of the slope to enable the traffic management on Avondale Terrace to be removed, re-establishing two way traffic on the highway. The site is located directly opposite Avondale Terrace in the village of Cymmer, approximately 2 miles south of Glyncorrwg, Neath Port Talbot.
