Abstract

The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a multi-disciplinary research centre based on the world's most powerful neutron source and is currently under construction at Lund, Sweden. This new facility will be around 30 times brighter than today's leading facilities, enabling new opportunities for researchers in the fields of life sciences, energy, environmental technology, cultural heritage and fundamental physics.

As part of the UK in kind contribution to the ESS, STFC is responsible for delivering 88 high-ß SRF cavities capable of achieving 22.9 MV/m at 704 MHz, with a Q0 better than 5 x 109. Further technical background is available in section 4 and at https://europeanspallationsource.se/

The Niobium procured in this tender shall be used for the fabrication of the high beta cavities for the ESS project as above.
