II.2.4) Description of the procurement
Within the Trust Dental Services Division, Dental services provide a specialist dental service at the Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry (BDH), as well as in a number of community locations. This specification relates to the Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry and to the following group of patients
— Adults and children with special needs (for example, medically compromised, physically or mentally compromised, elderly housebound, people with learning disabilities, severely anxious or phobic people),
— Children in pain who are without a dentist,
— Children with high caries rate and limited co-operation,
— Children with behavioural problems.
The service also provides the following specialist services:
— sedation,
— general anesthetic,
— oral surgery,
— oral medicine,
— special care,
— pediatrics,
— restorative and
— orthodontics.
Scope.
The BDH decontamination service is to be provided from Monday to Friday and included the collection, delivery and decontamination of hand pieces.
The collection of dirty items and delivery of sterile items directly to and from the main stores within BDH. The service will also include the oiling of hand pieces.
Excluded from the service provision are decontamination services to the Combined Community Dental Clinics based in Sandwell, Walsall, Dudley and Birmingham and the servicing of Trust owned hand pieces.

The contract is to commence from 1.4.2019 with a fixed period of 3 years plus an optional period of up to 24 months thereafter.
The service is to be provided at BDH which is based at 5 Mill Pool Way, Birmingham B5 7EG.
This service will not be subject to the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulation 2013 (TUPE).
