Abstract

An opportunity has arisen for an innovative design to be produced for a new, freestanding interpretative feature at Trevor Basin, Wrexham. The piece will stand at a car park entrance and will act as a visual introduction to the World Heritage Site. The concept for the piece is to create a welcome and a “Wow – you have arrived” at an amazing place. The piece will have to work hard as the car park is temporary and is not currently visually appealing or welcoming. This is a partnership project between the Canal & River Trust, Wrexham County Borough Council and Denbighshire County Council (Clwydian Range & Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). The commissioning authority is the Canal & River Trust with Visit Wales as funding partner. To meeting funding requirements the interpretative piece will need to be installed by February 2019
