IV.1) Description
IV.1.1) Type of procedure
Award of a contract without prior publication of a call for competition
Justification for selected award procedure:
The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason: absence of competition for technical reasons
Explanation
Competition is absent for technical reasons as the AkTA range is the subject of a direct replacement Programme, these systems replace the AKTA purifier, prime and explorer systems that are currently in use. AKTA’s are the only systems that are directly compatible with the LMB’s existing installed base of AKTA units, columns, buffers, methods, protocols and use of xenon lamps and is able to integrate fully with the Unicorn software system that is currently in use site wide across the whole of the LMB. The LMB have over a 100 AKTA systems on site and everything in the systems are interchangeable therefore an alternative system would not be compatible. For technical reasons, competition is absent PCR 2015, Regulation 32(2)(b)(ii).
