Abstract

The redesign of Kings Square, forms part of the re-development of Kings Quarter which forms a major regeneration initiative within Gloucester. Kings Square was originally built in circa 1928 and has seen various changes in fortune as the city has developed over the last 80 years.

The Council are committed to the delivery of a new re-designed, high quality Square in readiness for the Christmas 2020 retail period.

Social Value is a key objective of the City Council and will be a collaborative approach with the successful Bidder.

Gloucester City Council’s Regeneration and Economic Development Plan (2016-2021) details a program of regeneration projects to generate the conditions for local economic growth. King’s Quarter- and the redevelopment of King’s Square- serves as a clear ‘step-change’ that through the delivery of its components will represent and reflect the aspirations of a quickly changing, modern City.
