Abstract

Associated British Ports (ABP), the port authority at Newport, is proposing to construct a new manufacturing facility at the Port of Newport. The manufacturing facility will be located on a brownfield site to the south west of South Dock. It will comprise a simple industrial-type structure enclosing production lines, conveyor belts, storage loading areas and 2 hoppers (all process engineering elements to be undertaken by the tenant). Covered and external storage areas/bays, hardstanding parking and an administrative office are also associated with the development. Planning permission for this proposed development will be applied for under the town and country planning Act 1990.

The warehouse containing the production equipment will be approximately 14,000 m2 in area, or 1,4 ha. The length will be in excess of 200 m to house the manufacturing line.
