Abstract
NRW is looking to better understand the performance of existing monitoring programmes and to identify options for modifying them while retaining an adequate level of performance. We began this work with a project looking at NRW’s monitoring of inland freshwaters, and the ability of current programmes to detect trends on a national scale; this included an analysis of the temporal (annual) fish monitoring programme. We are now seeking further work to evaluate options for fisheries monitoring at a catchment scale.
