Northern Gas Networks are running this tender to ensure that NGN are provided with a robust alcohol and drug testing process for pre-employment testing (both on NGN sites and at clinic locations across NGN’s network), random testing (on NGN sites) and with-cause testing (24/7 service, 365 days per year on NGN sites).

II.2.4) Description of the procurement
Northern Gas Networks are running this tender to ensure that NGN are provided with a robust alcohol and drug testing process for pre-employment testing (both on NGN sites and at clinic locations across NGN’s network), random testing (on NGN sites) and with-cause testing (24/7 service, 365 days per year on NGN sites). NGN’s requirements are that a standard testing procedure is undertaken including an appropriate chain of custody. This involves an NGN employee signing a disclaimer, notifying the nurse of any medication being taken, testing for illegal drugs with a urine sample and an alcohol breath test (English/Welsh legal limit for driving which is 35ug% per 100 ml of breath. The chain of custody relates to the records kept on the sample through the entire process, to guarantee the integrity and identity of the specimen from collection to test results.
