Abstract

Sawston includes surrounding Granta Practice Villages Whittlesford, Pampisford, Duxford, Hinxton and Ickleton

South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced service provider to expand the provision of the Mobile (Community) Warden Schemes across the District. This is to provide increased coverage and more equitable access for people wanting help to support independent living, particularly for elderly or vulnerable residents across the District of South Cambridgeshire.

The service that is needed is not for care provision, but an independent living support service.

The Mobile (Community) Warden Scheme will provide a minimum of weekly contact and support to elderly and vulnerable residents to enable them to live independently for longer within their own homes, thereby either avoiding the prospect that the resident would need early transfer to a hospital or social care setting, or enabling their prompt discharge from hospital.

The Service will take the form of weekly home visits and daily telephone calls; assistance with basic administration (such as opening letters, paying bills, making appointments, ensuring that the client attends appointments); collecting prescriptions, newspapers, and basic essentials (e.g milk, bread etc.); arranging transport to social and health appointments; providing social and emotional support through befriending.

SCDC is looking to appoint either one service provider or a number of suitably qualified and experienced providers. Therefore, this contract is broken down into a number of lots and bidders may bid for some or all lots.
