Provision of a Best Interest Assessor Service

Description of the goods or services required

Providers will provide Best Interest Assessments, using all reasonable skill and care as could be expected of a reasonable service provider carrying out similar services.

Services shall be provided to the Wrexham County Borough Council’s DoLS Service in a prompt, efficient, professional and ethical manner, in accordance with the statutory timescales and in compliance with:

• The Mental Capacity Act 2005

• Mental Capacity Act 2005 Code of Practice (2007)

• All relevant regulations issued under the Mental Capacity Act 2005

• Mental Capacity Act Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (MCA DoLS)

• Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice (2008)

• Data Protection/Confidentiality

• Welsh Assembly Government Guidance for Supervisory Bodies (2009)

• Welsh Assembly Government Guidance for Managing Authorities (2009)

And

• All relevant law

Wrexham County Borough Council is looking to appoint 3 Best Interest Assessors

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Best Interest Assessors must be either an Approved Mental Health Professional, Social Worker, Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Chartered Psychologist with the skills and experience specified in Schedule A1 to the Mental Capacity Act 2005(c.9) dated July 9 2008 and made by the Secretary of State for Health under S65(1) of and paras 31,33(4),47,70,129(3),130 and 183(6) and (7). In Wales, this includes at least 2 years post registration experience and mandatory registration with the Care Council for Wales.
