Abstract

26.1.1. The Faculty of Construction have approximately 600 registered apprentices on the SVQ 3 Construction Crafts Qualification. The students on the 1st and 2nd year of their programmes require to begin the process of accumulating Work Based Evidence into a portfolio. Students on their 3rd year and 4th year need to add evidence from Direct Observation in the workplace to that portfolio until such time as the Assessor deems it sufficiently complete. A completed portfolio of work-based evidence has to be completed before any candidate can be put forward for their Skills Test. As the ability of candidates and their site experience vary so too will the number of site visits. Therefore, what is sought is not the number of site visits but a completed portfolio.
