Description of the goods or services required
The Partneriaeth Rhostir Gogledd Cymru / North Wales Moorland Partnership is a community interest company incorporated in March 2019 for the benefit of moorland and associated communities.
The Partnership has been awarded a £700,000 grant by the European Union via the Welsh Government's Sustainable Management Scheme for a collaborative project based in North Wales.
The project runs until June 2023 and aims to build on current understanding to:
- underpin and plan effective management techniques for the benefit of the species that depend on the moorland
- increase the habitat’s resilience to changes in climate
- develop understanding of natural capital and the ecosystem services provided.
The Partnership are seeking help with the following:
- Administration of the project to include:
- Submitting invoices for payment and claims for funding
- Overseeing tendering processes with Partnership’s Contact
- Overseeing project timeframes with Partnership’s Contact
Experience of administrating other SMS schemes an advantage.
- Contract management including tendering and monitoring works. Examples of contracted work:
- Habitat and species surveys
- Hydrological surveys
- Grazing analysis
- Heather cutting/burning
- Tree felling
- Bracken bruising
- Grip blocking
- Pond creation
Ability to write job specifications for contractors and knowledge of SSSI management an advantage.
- Communicating and collaborating with stakeholders and projects of interest. Examples include:
- Natural Resources Wales
- Other moorland projects
- Game keepers
- Graziers
- Undertaking an audit for the prevention and control of wildfires, to include:
- Fuel loads
- Access to moors
- Water availability
- Fire plans
- Equipment
- Skills and experience
- Persons with interest
A North Wales Wildfire Prevention and Control Network has been set-up with interested parties able to offer some guidance and support.
- Evaluation of the project, evaluators will need to be independent of the project itself.
