Abstract

AHDB have successfully secured funding as part of the Defra Future Farming Resilience Funding project, second phase (known as the ‘Interim Phase’). The funding is to provide resilience support to farmers and land managers in England to help them prepare for the Agricultural Transition period (2021 to 2027). The Interim Phase will take place from 18th August 2021 to 1st March 2022.

Information about Defra’s Future Farming Resilience Fund can be found here https://defrafarming.blog.gov.uk/2021/03/25/the-future-farming-resilience-fund-supporting-farmers-through-transition/

Defra’s key objective for the grant funding is:

To provide resilience support to farmers and land managers to help them prepare for, and adjust to, the Agricultural Transition by addressing the opportunities it presents and the impacts it could have. The project will also monitor the impact and value for money of this resilience support.

Defra aims for the project to deliver direct benefits to the farmers and land managers who are the beneficiaries of this project by enabling them to:

i. Fully understand the changes that are about to happen

ii. Identify how, where and when they may need to adapt their business model and resilience as a result

iii. Access tailored support to address these changes in a timely fashion

Brief description of AHDB’s planned intervention:

Under the FFRF, AHDBs project will provide a half day consultation to up to 4,000 farmers to help adjustment to direct payment reductions. Targeted at combinable crop, beef, sheep and dairy farms across England it will be available from Aug 2021 through to Feb 2022.

The service will provide a Farm Business Review using our online tool, with 1:1 support from an agricultural consultant. This will use our new AHDB Farm Business Review (FBR) tool https://farmbusinessreview.ahdb.org.uk

The Supplier shall be responsible for delivering the following activity as part of the AHDB’s service under Defra’s Future Farming Resilience Fund:

Farm Business Review tool (BPS/Resilience assessment/KPI) data collections and associated group meeting.
