•South England Forest District is responsible for the management of some 48,000ha of the public forest estate in England of which 26,284ha makes up the New Forest. The New Forest is made up of a unique combination of heathland, ancient woodland, wetlands and grassy plains.
•Planning work will be focused on existing built infrastructure, changes of land use and new infrastructure. Formal planning consents may also be required to deliver the objectives of the New Forest Higher Level Stewardship Scheme and Forestry England’s Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) Restoration commitments in the New Forest.
•The application will need to meet the planning requirements of the relevant Local Planning Authority (LPA); for example, for planning applications related to wetland restoration projects in the New Forest, the New Forest National Park Authority (NFNPA) is the relevant LPA.
