Abstract

Small maintenance works, reactive and pre-planned maintenance to paving and Port infrastructure.

The Eastern and Western Docks are areas that have been reclaimed over the past 120 years via a number of sequenced reclamations. Reclamations typically consist of an outer sea wall, with the area inside the wall backfilled with either hydraulically placed sand or backfilled chalk.

There are a variety of surfacing materials and details throughout the port, i.e.:

• Flexible and composite flexible pavement

• Rigid pavement (RC concrete)

• Block paviours on slag bound foundation.

A number of underground structures (demolished building slabs, sea walls, marine structures, lighting foundations etc.) are present throughout the site; there is a high risk of remaining foundations or obstructions below ground. There are a number of suspended slabs throughout the Eastern and western Docks.

There is approximately 45ha of paving, an elevated roadway, gantries, signage, 1.98km of sheet piled quay wall, and other associated port infrastructure.

The anticipated annual spend for Lot 1 is as follows:

PPM = £200k - £250k

Reactive = £100k - £150k

Small Works = £1.0m - £1.5m

Total = £1.3m - £1.9m
