Abstract

The SPS has a number of in-house production workshops providing prisoner activities facilities in the prison Sites where the basic purpose is to aid the rehabilitation of prisoners by providing them with meaningful employment and training opportunities whilst in custody and assist in the maintenance of good order by providing out of cell activity.

The industries department within Central Stores, Fauldhouse is responsible for the overall management and co-ordination of all production workshops within the relevant SPS Sites (incorporating timber, metal fabrication, and textiles). Industries control the designs of all products and the ordering of raw materials.

HMP Barlinnie, HMP Glenochil, HMP Low Moss, HMP Perth and HMP Shotts have timber workshops that manufacture wood based components and products.

This multi-supplier framework shall support the SPS requirement for the supply of softwood timber (mainly redwood and whitewood) as the raw material to be used in these workshops and requires delivery at the relevant Establishment.

SPS may look to add additional sites over the course of the contract.
