Abstract

Butterfly Conservation is inviting tenders for habitat management works at Ewenny Estate and Ogmore Down, Vale of Glamorgan, as part of the Natur am Byth programme. The works aim to protect the last Welsh population of the High Brown Fritillary butterfly by enhancing breeding habitat through targeted Bracken and scrub cutting. Contractors will be required to carry out: Robo-mower cutting in dense Bracken areas, creating curved, scalloped-edge latticed cuts to increase micro-habitat. All works will be supervised by Butterfly Conservation staff to ensure ecological sensitivity, particularly around known reptile hibernacula.
