Abstract

Llanferres Community Council in Denbighshire is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified contractor to undertake extensive environmental, landscaping and access works to improve Maes Ysgawen park, Llanferres, CH7 5SP. This invitation to tender sets out the requirements for tendering and the scope of the works. The contract value is estimated between £130,000 and £150,000 excluding those items to be supplied by the Council. Work is expected to start on site during the first quarter of 2026. This is a National Lottery funded project. This invitation to tender sets out the requirements for tendering and the scope of the works.

Is there a facility in the contract to address the price increases in materials costs, which will inevitably occur over the New Year, (between the tendering date and the commencement on site)? Apart from Marshalls, who have indicated a 7% increase is on the cards, none of our other suppliers can tell us what the increases are going to be, only that they will happen. Ans. There is no allowance for inflation in the Form of Contract. It is planned that contracts are signed before the new year potentially enabling materials to be purchased at 2025 prices? However, the works will commence in the new year and contractors should price accordingly. 2. Can you please clarify what type of fencing is required either side of the gates on Rectory Lane (Price Schedule Item G1.11 described as “Rail infill ……..” Is this a post & rail fence, or a different description of the metal “Vertical bar 1.6m railing…” at G1.5. (also coincidentally 11.5m) Ans. A short section of 3 No timber rails should be adapted to neatly close the gap between the gatepost and the bank/fence. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 10/11/25 Question 17.37 1. Please can we have some further details on the type of fence that we are repairing for this item: G1.11 - Rail infill connecting to fences both sides fence (approx. 11.5m lin/m, 8 posts) Ans. Please allow for standard post and wire stock fence. 2. Please can you advise whether a provisional sum should have been provided for this item: PROVISIONAL SUM - G1.12 - Allow for repairs to fence in NW corner of the site Ans.
