Abstract

This contract has been directly awarded to Esh Construction via the NEPO0211 Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Works Framework to deliver essential works at Watergate Forest Park. The project will reinforce the reservoir spillway and adjoining embankments at Watergate Lake to ensure compliance with the Reservoirs Act 1975. The works are required to improve the safety and resilience of the reservoir infrastructure and to reduce risks to life and property during extreme flood events, including those with 1 in 1,000-year and 1 in 10,000-year return periods. The improvements will help Gateshead Council meet its statutory obligations and maintain the long-term integrity of the reservoir.
