The Electoral Commission has a statutory duty under PPERA to run registration and voter information public awareness campaigns ahead of elections and referendums to ensure people have the information they need to register to vote and to take part in elections. In 2013/14 to 2015/16, the Commission will also be responsible for raising awareness to support a major change in the way people are registered to vote.
We require a partnership agency to work with us on this change and to supplement our public awareness campaigns and the public engagement activity undertaken by local authorities.
