Abstract

This tender is for the provision of waste management services to York St John University. The contract will initially be for a period of 3 years, with the option to extend for a further 2 periods of up to 2 years. The maximum contract duration on offer is therefore 7 years.

The University is looking to appoint a single Contractor to deliver the following waste collection services:

— Commercial waste collection: Food, Dry Mixed Recycling, Glass, Residual General Waste;

— Residential waste collection: Food, Dry Mixed Recycling, Glass, Residual General Waste;

— Skips: Green/Organic Waste, Construction Waste, Bulky Dry Mixed Recycling (furniture and timber).

The University is seeking a service which supports its key objective to improve sustainable performance and reduce waste in accordance with the waste management hierarchy; reduce, re-use, recycle, recover energy from waste. The Contractor is required to offer a ‘0 waste to landfill’ service.

The successful Contractor will need to have the capacity to adapt and/or expand the service provision as the University grows and buildings are constructed or refurbished.
