Abstract

NHS Bassetlaw Clinical Commissioning Group is looking to commission Podiatric Surgery Services under the Any Qualified Provider (AQP) process. Its aim is to identify a number of ‘Qualified Providers'. Award of Contracts will be to any Potential Provider who “Qualifies” i.e. meets the minimum assessment and selection criteria.

The podiatric surgery service is offered to patients with low medical risk and surgical podiatric need. The aim of the service is to provide assessments and treatment of patients within community settings. The service will promote supported self-care to increase the patient's confidence to self-manage and reduce the need for repeated referrals. The Provider will: — Ensure the provision of a High-quality, safe and effective elective outpatient and day-case service to patients referred — Ensure that all referrals are appropriately managed and that the Patient’s needs are fully met — To deliver clinically effective and cost effective diagnosis, management of foot and ankle pathology — To provide a comprehensive range of corrective foot surgery within the Primary Care setting as Day Case, thereby decreasing the number of patients requiring treatment within Secondary Care — Offer evidence based interventions — Offer innovative models of service delivery where appropriate and as agreed with the Coordinating Commissioner — Ensure effective dialogue and communication with the health community at all times and establish effective collaborations with other providers as appropriate — To take history of falls as appropriate (as per NICE guidelines) and appropriate sign posting — During assessment, where other issues identified or suspected e.g. vascular deficit or neuropathy, communicate with GP effectively. Doppler testing if any suspicion of peripheral vascular disease — helps optimising treatment before surgery and better outcome — Achieve all local and national waiting time targets and expectations — To deliver the service within a community setting thereby improving access and reducing costs associated with hospital admission — To maintain a continuous programme of quality monitoring and service improvement.
