Abstract

• To produce a Toolkit; a ‘good practice’ guide aimed at young disabled leaders, DPOs CILs and other interested parties on developing DPOs and CILs keeping with the Social Model of disability. It will pull together key issues of each of the Enabling Wales Training Programme to use as a learning resource and to collate materials from the training and evaluation to edit appropriately. • Liaise with DWs Enabling Wales Development Officer in the creation of the toolkit. Liaise with disabled people to determine what they want the toolkit to cover (content) and to establish how the toolkit can benefit young disabled leaders, DPOs and CILs. • The Toolkit is to be designed, produced and disseminated widely to disabled people, members and stakeholders

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

The Consultants must have:

• Knowledge, understanding of and commitment to the Social Model of Disability and its implementation.

• Awareness of the strengths, abilities and experience of Disabled People from diverse communities.

• Understanding of and be committed to all equality issues.

• Proven experience designing and producing toolkits

• A proven track record of delivering work to a high standard.

• Extensive knowledge and experience in the Enabling Wales Programme subject areas

The ability to:

• Prioritise workload to meet agreed targets and deadlines.

• Work with and relate to people with a wide range of impairments.

• Design and deliver a toolkit through a variety of methods and techniques

• Value the rights, equality and independence of all disabled people

• Disabled people representing their own views and priorities and having the necessary support to do so

• The cultural importance of the Welsh Language

• Evaluation and self-reflection
